Wright Sets Program Record in 100-Meter Dash

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – UNCW track and field junior Cameron Wright set a new school record with a time of 10.34 in the 100-meter dash prelims and finished fifth in the finals at the Virginia Challenge on Friday to highlight a successful weekend for the Seahawks.

On Friday afternoon, Wright broke Cameron Shaw’s near 10-year program record of 10.35 in the 100m by one-hundredth of a second and set the fastest time in the Coastal Athletic Association this season by the same margin. Wright’s performance also ranks inside the top 45 for the NCAA East Region. He followed his record-breaking performance with a time of 10.46 in the finals on Friday night.

Wright continued his stellar weekend on Saturday afternoon, setting a new personal record of 14.10 in the 110-meter hurdles to finish fifth. Wright jumped from sixth to fourth all-time in program history, surpassing his previous time of 14.16…
