Iconic steakhouse makes difficult decision to close after 12 years as ‘personal vendetta’ launched against restaurant

A beloved Jewish steakhouse in Houston is shuttering just months after losing its coveted kosher certification.

Genesis Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Meyerland announced Thursday via Facebook that it would be closing its doors at the end of the month after 12 years of serving the community . The restaurant, which is in the center of the city’s Jewish community, is considered the first kosher steakhouse and smokehouse in the southwest of the country.

“After 12 incredible years, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of Genesis Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Our final day of service will be April 30,” the post reads . “This journey has been about so much more than food—it’s been about community, connection, tradition, and heart. We’ve had the honor of serving you not just meals, but memories—celebrating your birthdays, anniversaries, simchas, and milestones together.”…
