Just hours after picking up a big district win over University Heights, the Christian County Colonels were back on the field Saturday for a pair of games against Union County and Daviess County. Defensive miscues played a big part in the Colonels losing to both the Braves and the Panthers.
Two errors in the top of the 8th inning were the difference in the first game of the day for Christian County. The Colonels had two miscues in the top of the 8th inning and that allowed Union County to score the only run of the game in a 1-0 win for the Braves.
The Colonels, who have had fielding issues at times during the season, had gone seven innings without a miscue as Christian County and Union County were locked up in a pitchers duel between Andrew Fincham and Coltin Capps. Fincham and Capps entered the 8th inning having given up a total of four hits between them.
In the 8th, the Braves got a leadoff single that turned into a double thanks to an infield error. With two outs Damon Utley hit a ground ball that could have ended the inning, but the Colonels misplayed the ball, allowing the go-ahead run to score…
