The report indicates that the trade winds will occasionally weaken, allowing local sea and land breezes to form afternoon clouds, which will disperse by evening. Windward regions and higher elevations (mauka areas) can expect thicker cloud cover and a higher chance of showers.
A forecast change, however, is looming northwest of the state, with a deepening low threatening to disrupt this relatively mild pattern. This system is expected to “introduce higher chances for island-wide rain and potential storms,” as reported by NWS. With the flow of wind shifting more to the southeast, residents should be geared up to potentially face not just showers but thunderstorms as well in the coming week.
Despite the likelihood of increased precipitation, the good news is no significant rain events are currently expected. A stable atmosphere is keeping things in check for now.
