The St. Petersburg Police Department is bidding farewell to Reserve Officer and Armorer William Fletcher Warner, known as Fletch, after a 55-year career in law enforcement. Warner began his career in 1970, serving in various roles including K-9 Officer, Narcotics Detective, Marine Unit member, Street Crimes Unit officer, High-Liability Training Officer, and SWAT Officer. At the age of 50, he returned to the SWAT Team as a Sharpshooter and became its senior-most member.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department’s Facebook post, after retiring in 2005, Warner continued to serve as the department’s Armorer, maintaining the department’s weaponry.
