Alachua County 4-H Envirothon Team wins first place at 2025 Florida Envirothon

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Alachua County 4-H Envirothon Team of Henry Huynh, Will Mercado, Abigail Pruden, William Pruden, and Katie Ross, with Volunteer Advisors/Coaches Amy and Jonathan Pruden, won first place at the 2025 Florida Envirothon. The competition took place at the Withlacoochee State Forest McKethan Lake Recreation Area in Brooksville, Florida. The Tardigrades of Alachua County 4-H look forward to representing Florida at the NCF Envirothon, July 20-26, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta at the Canada Mount Royal University.

The Envirothon is an environmental education competition, in which teams of high school students work collaboratively to develop their knowledge in five categories: Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soil & Land Use, Wildlife, and this year’s Current Issue topic of Roots and Resiliency: Fostering Forest Stewardship in a Canopy of Change.
