Tears as Kids Shot Sweet Dog With BB Guns then Dumped Him—Now He’s at the Shelter & Still Wagging His Tail

At only five years old, King has been hurt by people in ways no dog deserves. Before coming to the Humane Society of Broward County, this lovely German Shepherd mix was a stray just trying to survive the harsh street life without bothering anyone. But as unproblematic as King was, people still found a way to frustrate him and make his life more unbearable. (Watch Video Below)

@humanebroward He’s been through so much 🥺 This 5-year-old gentleman has been let down by people over and over again. 💔   As a stray, the kids in his neighborhood bullied him — they shot at him with BB guns. He was eventually found injured and alone at a common dumping ground… left like he didn’t matter. 😞 And somehow… after everything… King is still gentle. Still sweet. Still trusting.   King is such a good dog. ❤️ He’s calm, smart, and loving. Walks great on leash. Knows sit and paw. Loves squeaky toys, chasing balls, and treats (especially Beggin’ Bacon!). He’s good with adults and older kids. Non-reactive to other dogs. But no cats for this guy.   Right now, King is also battling heartworm — yet another hardship in a life full of them. And most recently? He was surrendered again… this time because his family said they didn’t have time for him. 😔   After everything he’s survived… King is still waiting for someone to choose him. To keep him. To love him like he’s always deserved.   King has been failed by people so many times. He deserves for that to finally change. 🙏   Could that person be you? 💙🐾   King’s heartworm treatment will be provided for free by our shelter, even after adoption. ❤️   If you cannot adopt or foster, please share King’s post 🙏 And please consider donating to our shelter. Your generous donations allow us to take in homeless pets like King, and keep them safe until they find their forever homes ❤️   To meet King, please fill out an application at www.humanebroward.com and then come on in. The shelter located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL., the adoption department opens daily at 11 a.m. If you have questions call 954-989-3977 ext. 6 ❤️   #rescuedog #shelterdog #adoptme #adoptdontshop #freckles #fortlauderdale #florida #dogreels #southflorida #miami #browardcounty #dogs #dogoftheday #dogsofinstagram #dogshelter #animalshelter #saddog #dog #germanshepherd #shepherd #newbeginnings #adoptking #adoptdontshop #shelterdog #rescuedog ♬ original sound – Humane Society Broward County

For a long time, King was bullied by kids in his neighborhood who cared less about his worth and feelings. At one point, the kids shot him with BB guns in the head at close range, leaving him badly injured. Shortly after this traumatic incident, King was found lying in a dumping ground, wounded and utterly helpless. He was rescued and taken to the shelter, where his healing journey began.

A Beautiful, Forgiving Soul

For a dog who’s only seen the worst side of humans for the better part of his life, you’d expect King to be completely shut down at the shelter. But that’s not the case. Despite all the cruelty King has endured at the hands of humans, he is still the sweetest, most gentle dog you’ll ever come across…
