Sacramento residents can expect to bask in warm sunshine for the next few days before getting their sweaters back out toward the end of the week. According to the National Weather Service Sacramento, we’re looking at above normal temperatures amidst “a progressive upper level pattern” that will keep conditions dry and mild through midweek. Folks with outdoor plans from today through Wednesday are in luck, with temperatures possibly hitting 80 degrees or more, especially tomorrow and Tuesday. However, as the week progresses, gear up to quickly experience a climate shift.
Beginning Thursday, those breezy winds will bring more than fresh air; they’re slated to usher in a significant cooling trend. By the end of this week, that sunny outlook is set to morph into conditions ripe for showers, with an added sprinkle of isolated mountain thunderstorms in the mix. The probabilities aren’t overwhelming, but if you plan to venture north of Interstate 80 or into higher elevations from Friday into the weekend, keep an umbrella handy. The NWS Sacramento forecast states, “Isolated to scattered showers and a nonzero chance for isolated mountain thunderstorms possible Friday into next weekend.”
In terms of wind, we’ve got “diurnally driven winds” with “increasing Delta breeze flow” to look forward to. This shouldn’t be too disruptive, but expect winds gusting from 15-25 mph at times, providing a mild reprieve from the current warmth. Even aviation operations seem to be proceeding with minimal fuss. The NWS Sacramento assures “Primarily VFR conditions expected to prevail next 24 hours across interior NorCal,” albeit with a 30% chance of minor visibility issues through the Delta, Sacramento metro, and northern San Joaquin Valley areas in the morning hours…
