ALTOONA, Iowa — The National Autism Association (NAA) is pointing parents to resources, following a string of fatalities involving autistic people. The nonprofit says nearly all of the deaths could have been prevented.
Last year, on average, six autistic children in the U.S. died each month after wandering or running away from their parents. That statistic includes drownings and traffic deaths.
