Young golden eagle shot in Northern Idaho will never fly again

IDAHO, USA — A juvenile golden eagle found shot near the Idaho-Canadian border will live out its life in captivity after sustaining irreparable wing damage, according to wildlife rehabilitation experts at Birds of Prey Northwest (BOPNW).

The golden eagle was one of two eagles admitted to the northern Idaho rescue center within a 24-hour period on April 5, highlighting two persistent threats to raptor populations across the United States: illegal shooting and lead poisoning.
