DENVER (KDVR) — Hundreds of people descended on Civic Center Park on Sunday for the Mile High 420 Festival, and the Colorado Department of Transportation took the opportunity to try and get people home safe after smoking throughout the day.
“Everybody’s been hearing the drunk driving message for decades, but they haven’t heard about the impaired driving message with cannabis for very long, so we’ve got our work cut out for us,” said Sam Cole, CDOT’s traffic safety manager.

At their booth, CDOT offered Uber credits and safety information to anyone who stopped by. Cole says you should wait six to eight hours after smoking before getting behind the wheel.
