Jackson Police Reopen 2016 Cold Case, Make Arrest in Tyshun Robinson Homicide

Nearly nine years after the tragic killing of Tyshun Robinson, the Jackson Police Department has made a major breakthrough in the case, arresting a suspect in connection to the long-unsolved homicide.

On November 22, 2016, officers responded to what was initially reported as a car accident on Belvedere and Winn Street. Upon arrival, officers found a blue Cadillac, partially burned and crashed into a tree, still engulfed in flames. Near the vehicle, they discovered the body of Tyshun Robinson, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case remained unsolved until 2024, when the Jackson Police Department Cold Case Unit was formed and reassigned the investigation. Detectives pursued new leads and, after years of diligent work, made a breakthrough…
