Mexican man gets 5½ years for attempt to smuggle migrants into San Antonio

A Mexican national has been sentenced to 5½ years in prison after federal officials say he was recruited to take part in smuggling undocumented immigrants through San Antonio after he answered an ad on Instagram.

Guillermo Hernandez-Gonzalez, 23, was convicted on a charge of charge of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens placing lives in jeopardy. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ernest Gonzalez in Del Rio.
