MUSC Receives Approval to Build New Hospital in Indian Land

INDIAN LAND, S.C. — The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has received approval to move forward with construction of a new hospital in Indian Land, marking a significant expansion of healthcare services in Lancaster County.

The  hospital is part of a broader $860 million plan that also includes the construction of another facility in Summerville, SC.

South Carolina Fiscal Accountability Authority approved MUSC borrowing for the projects.   The construction will increase MUSC’s total debt to nearly $1.8 billion — more than double its current level — a move MUSC officials say is necessary to address critical care needs in underserved areas…
