Louisville man accused of hitting accomplice with forklift stolen from JCPS school

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 26-year-old Louisville man who allegedly broke into Pleasure Ridge Park High School with another man and stole a forklift last summer pleaded not guilty to several charges Tuesday.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. on July 25, 2024, according to court documents. That’s when Tristen York, 26, and an unnamed co-defendant allegedly located a hidden key that fit a forklift parked outside the high school at 5901 Greenwood Road. Police said York used the key to start the forklift and began driving it toward a public road, with the co-defendant riding on one of the forks.

The forklift hit a speed bump before it reached the road, throwing the co-defendant off of it. York then ran over the co-defendant with the forklift, “causing serious physical injuries.” Police said York called 911 to report someone had been hit by a vehicle, but refused to identify himself, and left the scene before first responders arrived…
