NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennesseans are asked to report any recent sightings of the invasive spotted lanternfly or its egg masses.
The Tennessee Division of Natural Areas’s reported it recently received another report of the spotted lanternfly from the Tennessee Division of Forestry.
The first reported sighting of the spotted lanternfly in Davidson County was in Hermitage in 2023, near the railroad tracks. The invasive insect is from Asia, and believed to have made it to the U.S. by its eggs hitching a ride on shipping and freight containers.
