Providence firefighter training tower to be demolished next week

(WJAR) — A Providence firefighter training tower is scheduled to be torn down next week.

According to a Providence city councilmember, the tower on Dexter Street will be demolished next Monday.

“In 1988 I was in the 41st training academy for the Providence Fire Department and we climbed up on using pompier ladders, we repelled off it and we jumped out of the first floor into a life safety net,” Councilman James Taylor said. “The west end skyline will change when this comes down.”…
