LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Despite failing to convince Arkansas lawmakers to approve $750 million dollars in funding to build a 3,000-bed prison in Franklin County, the state is not backing down from the project, its controversial answer to Arkansas’ yearslong prison overcrowding issues.
As it stands, the Department of Corrections has only $75 million at its disposal for the prison, but with that, it’s hiring architects and seeking contractors to build it.
