Acadiana woke up to knee-deep flash floods in downtown Lafayette and nearby towns, and a famous meteorologist has taken notice.
“Insane rainfall in Acadiana this morning,” The Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore tweeted. “Over 8” near Broussard, LA just over the last few hours,” he said around 7:50 a.m.

Parts of the city and parish got as much as 6 inches of rain, according to the Lafayette Consolidated Government. A flash flood warning was in effect for Lafayette, Broussard and Youngsville until 9:30 a.m…
