FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A stabbing at a high school in Fairfax County has renewed the debate about when, and how, teachers should intervene in student altercations.
A student’s cell phone captured what appears to be a faculty member walking away from the scene of a fight.
“Walking away is not the answer,” said Ken Trump, an Ohio-based school safety expert with more than 40 years of experience. “If you can’t physically intervene, there are other things you can do, from dispersing the crowd, giving verbal directions, and telling combatants to stop.”…
