Rockford mayor names picks for three city leadership roles

ROCKFORD — Mayor Tom McNamara announced on Friday his picks to lead three city departments.

The three appointments are subject to City Council confirmation, with that vote expected May 5 after new aldermen are sworn into office.

McNamara has selected Sarah Leys as the new director of the Community and Economic Development Department, filling a position left vacant after the departure of Karl Franzen last year. Angela Hammer is picked as director of the Department of Law, succeeding Nick Meyer, who was elected judge in November.
