Prince William recently revealed his surprise at King Charles’ eclectic music taste. During a visit to London’s Mentivity House youth center, the Prince admitted he’d expected the King’s Apple Music playlist, released in March, to lean heavily on classical music. Instead, the playlist boasts artists ranging from Beyoncé and Michael Bublé to Bob Marley.
When asked if the playlist might include some UK garage or funky house music, William jokingly replied, “I’m not sure he’d know what that was.”
The King’s playlist, titled “His Majesty King Charles III’s Playlist,” was released for Commonwealth Day. In a prior announcement, Charles spoke about the profound impact music has had on his life, highlighting its power to evoke memories, offer comfort, and bring people together. He even singled out Beyoncé for praise, calling her “so exceptional” he couldn’t resist including her music.
During his visit to Mentivity House, Prince William engaged with young people, posing for selfies and participating in a brief soccer match. He also joined a roundtable discussion with local businesses, focusing on apprenticeships and the challenges young people face in accessing opportunities.
