Prolific San Jose graffiti tagger ‘GOOB’ arrested for vandalism

( KRON ) — A prolific San Jose graffiti vandal who tagged his work with the moniker “GOOB,” was arrested this week following a months-long investigation. According to the San Jose Police Department, patrol officers launched an investigation on Jan. 18 of this year into a “surge of graffiti vandalism that had plagued the downtown area since 2023.”

During the course of the investigation, SJPD officers discovered dozens of separate vandalism incidents targeting public, private, and commercial properties. SJPD also identified a primary suspect in the vandalism, 20-year-old Alex Garcia of San Jose.

Graffiti examined in the investigation was consistently tagged “GOOB,” which police said became a key element in linking the cases together.

On Tuesday, SJPD officers obtained a special warrant and a search warrant for Garcia and his residence. SJPD patrol officers, assisted by Special Operations — Street Crimes Unit personnel took Garcia into custody at his residence…
