The State Park Guys Help Me Move Rock for the Old Dirt Road

Moving rock

The state park guys were going to help me move rock today. Before I even got out of bed this morning, they hauled three loads of store bought rock and dumped it in this spot.

At noon, I met the guys that were going to help me move some rock slide rock from the top of the hill down to the bottom of the hill so it’d be closer to where I needed it. The dump truck can haul a lot more rock than I can in my bucket so this would be very helpful to me.

We drove on up the hill and left these guys in this spot to spot traffic as the dump truck is only two wheel drive and if it meets someone, they have to get out of the way as it’s unsafe for the dump truck to do that, especially when it’s loaded. These guys will stop any traffic from going down the steep part when the dump truck is on that part of the road. To keep them busy they had some trees on the side of the road that needed cut out of the way as they were leaning out over the road.

I loaded up the dump truck at the rock slide area and he drove the rock down to the bottom of the hill and stock piled it close to where it was needed.

We did a good job hauling rock for the rest of the day. I failed to get a picture of all the rock we moved.

Tomorrow, if nothing else comes up, I plan to move all that rock to the steepest part of the road to improve it’s out-slope which should really improve that steep spot for water drainage during big rain storms…
