Prince Harry’s ongoing legal battle over the removal of his UK security detail continues to unfold, revealing a strained relationship with his father, King Charles.
After relocating to the United States in 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle lost their automatic state-funded security. Harry believes this decision was a deliberate attempt to control him and a significant factor in the ongoing family feud. He expressed his disappointment, stating the realization was “difficult to swallow.”
Last week, Harry attended a two-day hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London to appeal the 2020 decision. His legal team argued that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) deviated from standard procedures, resulting in unfair and unequal treatment.
While details of the courtroom proceedings remain private, Harry told People magazine that the disclosed information confirmed his “worst fears.” He hinted at further undisclosed information, stating, “People would be shocked by what’s being held back.”
The situation has further exacerbated the already tense relationship between Harry and King Charles. A royal insider revealed that Harry blames his father and believes he has the power to intervene.
However, Charles’ reported inaction fuels Harry’s perception of being ostracized. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams confirmed the communication breakdown, telling Us Weekly that Charles isn’t responding to Harry’s messages.
The two haven’t seen each other in nearly a year, painting a bleak picture of their fractured relationship.
