Surprising departures from Colorado’s program, cornerback Colton Hood and running back Brandon Hood hopped into the transfer portal before Friday’s deadline for non-graduates. The brothers, who hail from McDonough, Ga., were both expected to have a major role on Colorado’s team this fall.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Colton Hood deserved to be a starter in Boulder last fall, based on his production, but Travis Hunter and DJ McKinney were shining, so his playing time was sporadic.
Hood did still get on the field for 332 defensive snaps over the course of 13 games with the Buffaloes as a redshirt freshman: 213 at wide corner, 61 at slot corner and 59 in the box. He returned two interceptions for 105 yards, six kickoff returns for 119 yards, and also had six pass breakups. Hood also saw action on five of Colorado’s six special teams units last season…
