WEEKEND FORECAST
We’re back to “typical” late-April weather this weekend with highs generally floating in the 60s. Despite the cooldown, I don’t anticipate many showers! An area of low pressure entered central California early this morning, cutoff from the jet stream/main flow of weather. Because this system is so far south, most of the light showers are staying in the southern half of Oregon today… This includes locations such as Eugene, Bend, and Burns.
For a majority of our viewing area, Saturday will start out cloudy with gradual improvements through the afternoon. Valleys may hold onto the clouds longer than the coast & mountains. Depending on how much sun we get today, we may have another day near 70° at PDX… Making it the 12th day of 70°+ this month. The all-time record is 13 days in 2016, so there’s a good chance we’ll meet or exceed that by May 1.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy with the potential for a stray drizzle. Rain chances are VERY minimal, so feel free to make plans outside! Highs will be in the low 60s.
MONDAY + TUESDAY
Monday will be very similar to Sunday. A stray shower is possible, but mostly cloudy skies linger for most of the day with highs in the 60s.
On Tuesday, a weak system may bring us the best rain chance this week… But it won’t be a washout. Just a few occasional showers. The latest data indicates that the highest probability for light rain is in the morning. High temperatures will stay near seasonable, in the low 60s.
WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY
If you enjoyed the weather this week, you’ll love the second half of the 7-day forecast. After some morning clouds, Wednesday will be a beautiful day with highs in the 70s. The first day of May will be our warmest, with a few spots reaching the low 80s. (Daily record is 89° from 2014… So not a record-breaking day) And Friday will be another warm day in the 70s with increasing clouds and a few late evening showers.
APRIL RAIN UPDATE
Remember to water your plants and lawn this weekend! We’ve had less than an inch of rain the entire month of April… And very minimal showers are in the forecast. It’s highly likely this will be one of the top 15-20 driest Aprils on record at PDX…
