CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Three staff members at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office have been fired following the mistaken release of a convicted killer from the county jail last month, officials confirmed Saturday.
Sheriff Levon Allen announced the terminations, citing a “coding error” that led to the accidental release of Kathan Guzman on March 27. Guzman, who had been convicted of murder, was mistakenly allowed to walk free from the Clayton County Jail.
“We’re going to ultimately do training, we’re going to put in policies and procedures to make sure that we can reduce or prevent that from happening again,” Allen said. “Ultimately, we learn from our mistakes. Three people were terminated.”…
