Hit-and-Run Tragedy as Sacramento Police Seek Community Help After Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Stockton Boulevard

In a sobering reminder of the city’s ongoing battle with traffic-related tragedies, the Sacramento Police Department reported a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision that occurred in the Stockton Boulevard and Riza Avenue area on the evening of Thursday. The department responded just after 9:00 p.m. to find an adult female pedestrian who had been struck. Despite lifesaving efforts by the officers, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification of the woman, pending notification of next of kin, will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

According to a Facebook post by the Sacramento Police Department, the incident quickly escalated into a hit-and-run as the vehicle involved in the collision fled before police arrived on the scene. Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) took charge, combing the area for clues, processing the accident site, and interviewing potential witnesses in an ongoing search for answers.
