The department responded just after 9:00 p.m. to find an adult female pedestrian who had been struck. Despite lifesaving efforts by the officers, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification of the woman, pending notification of next of kin, will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
According to a Facebook post by the Sacramento Police Department, the incident quickly escalated into a hit-and-run as the vehicle involved in the collision fled before police arrived on the scene.
