Troy gang leader sentenced to 137 months for fentanyl, cocaine, machinegun charges

A Troy, New York, gang leader has been sentenced to 137 months in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearm offenses.

Richawn McClain, 26, pleaded guilty to possessing fentanyl, cocaine, and a modified machinegun in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino imposed the sentence on Friday, along with four years of supervised release.

McClain admitted that he kept a handgun, modified to fire automatically, to protect his drug operation. Authorities seized 900 fentanyl pills, 32 grams of cocaine, and $22,770 in cash tied to drug proceeds during his arrest.

The court also ordered McClain to forfeit the firearm and the seized drug money. As part of his supervised release, McClain must avoid all contact with the Young Gunnerz and 380 gangs, where he previously held leadership roles…
