“Sinners” Continues Reign Atop Box Office, Holding Off “Star Wars”

The religious thriller “Sinners” continues to captivate audiences, holding onto the top spot at the North American box office for a second weekend. The film pulled in an impressive $45 million, fending off strong competition.

Landing in second place was “Star Wars: Episode III — Return of the Sith” with $25.2 million. The sci-fi epic’s return to theaters proved a powerful draw for fans. Close behind in third place was “The Accountant 2,” earning $24.5 million.

“A Minecraft Movie” mined box office gold to the tune of $22.7 million, securing the fourth spot, while the horror flick “Until Dawn” rounded out the top five with $8 million.

The rest of the top ten included “The King of Kings” ($4 million), “The Amateur” ($3.8 million), “Warfare” ($2.7 million), “Pink Floyd: Live From Pompeii” ($2.6 million), and “The Legend of Ochi” ($1.4 million).
