NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Village by the Creek neighborhood in North Nashville celebrated eight families who said “yes” to their new address at Sunday’s Habitat for Humanity dedication ceremony.
“They started years ago to get themselves in the position to be in good financial shape to be homeowners — first-time homeowners — in this new Habitat neighborhood Village by the Creek. It’s just a celebration, but it’s a celebration of work that started way before the first nail was driven into a two-by-four,” Kevin Roberts with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville told News 2.

Mayor Freddie O’Connell and Metro Councilwoman Jennifer Gamble gave speeches at the dedication on Sunday, April 27, congratulating families and highlighting Nashville’s need for more affordable housing.
The mayor’s office said with the average price for a home in Nashville sitting at about half a million dollars, homeownership can be out of reach for many who live in the Metro area.
