LUBBOCK, TX — A man was arrested by a Texas Department of Public Safety officer on Thursday after investigators say he tried to meet someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl through an online dating app. According to court documents, on April 24, a Texas DPS officer created a fake profile on the app “Badoo,” posing as a 15-year-old girl referred to in reports as “Jane Doe.” At around 1:00 p.m., the officer was contacted by a user named “Eduardo,” who gave “Jane Doe” his phone number and moved the conversation to text messaging at approximately 2:49 p.m.
