Minneapolis closing buildings early, after-school classes canceled ahead of severe weather

The City of Minneapolis will close some buildings early on Monday afternoon as Minnesota braces for potentially destructive storms.

Public-facing, non-emergency city facilities and services – including the city’s Service Center and Park and Recreation Board buildings – will close at 2 p.m., according to the city, which has activated its Emergency Operations Center.

Flood mitigation procedures, such as drain cleaning, are underway and the city’s 311 call center will have extended hours until 9 p.m. in anticipation of storm-related calls…
