San Antonio locals react to high food and drink prices at Fiesta

Fiesta San Antonio is back, back, back again for another season of festivities and fun. That is, if folks can still afford to partake. Last year, MySA reported on price hikes at popular Fiesta events like Oyster Bake and Taste of New Orleans, and 2025 is poised to feature more of the same. Let’s take a look at some of this year’s prices and what people are saying about them.

First things first, how much is chicken on a stick going for in 2025? At Fiesta Do Los Reyes, vendors were selling them for $10. In 2022, you could find the Fiesta favorite for around $6 to $8, according to a report from San Antonio Express-News . This increase reflects the rise in general food costs that have impacted restaurants, suppliers and consumers in recent months.

A post on the San Antonio Restaurants group from Facebook user Natalie Gonzales highlighted hefty pricing on parking and beverages. Gonzales shared images of beverage menus and a $30 parking sign that depict what some folks are calling unaffordable.

“I’ll be having my own fiesta at home,” San Antonio local Tanisha Spencer said in a reply. Plenty of people agreed with that sentiment, including Joseph Flores, who said, “Hope these prices don’t scare all the tortas away.”…
