SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 1976 homicide went unsolved for nearly 50 years until 2025 when San Diego Police announced an arrest for the murder of Leo Marquina.
A 73-year-old Chula Vista man was arrested by San Diego Homicide Detectives after the case was reopened in 2022. Mitchell Hernandez was arrested on Thursday, April 24, 2025, and is facing charges for the murder of Leo Marquina, San Diego Police announced Monday.
Cold case: 2023 murder of 50-year-old man remains mystery
Hernandez was scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday afternoon.
