Threat causes lockdown of four schools in South Sarasota County

VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) – Four schools in south Sarasota County were on lockdown for about two hours Tuesday morning because of threats received, law enforcement officials said.

The threats to Venice Elementary and Englewood Elementary were investigated by the Sarasota County School Police Department and local law enforcement and both were found to be not credible, according to school district spokeswoman Kelsey Whealy.

Garden Elementary School and Venice High School were also on lockdown due to their proximity to Venice Elementary. “Venice High did not receive a threat,” Whealy said in an email to ABC7…
