Wisconsin man arrested for OWI after allegedly hitting mailbox, fleeing scene

ELM GROVE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 62-year-old Wauwatosa man with an alleged blood alcohol concentration of 0.22 was arrested Monday morning after reportedly hitting a mailbox and fleeing the scene.

According to the Elm Grove Police Department , officers were alerted to a hit-and-run involving a mailbox in the 13300 block of Gremoor Drive. A Department of Public Works employee witnessed the crash and reported the vehicle traveling south on Legion Drive from Gremoor Drive.

Officers later located the suspected driver in Village Park. Authorities said the man showed obvious signs of impairment.

The man performed standardized field sobriety tests, which police said he failed. A breath test allegedly showed a BAC of 0.22. He was issued citations for operating while intoxicated, first offense, along with several other citations.
