Shreveport Braces for Potential UPS Layoff Impact

UPS just made a scary announcement that has many Shreveport residents concerned. UPS is laying off over 20,000 workers due to the decline in Amazon shipments, according to CBS News.

UPS made the decision to deliver fewer packages from Amazon, which is its biggest customer, so naturally, they will see a huge decline in packages needing to be delivered. However, we didn’t know that the decline in Amazon deliveries would eliminate so many jobs. According to Fox Business , this move “makes UPS the first big American company to move forward with large-scale layoffs in the face of slowing trade due to the Trump administration’s tariffs.”
