Standing on the polyonymous bridge bearing the oversized large lettering that says, “Trenton Makes, The World Takes,” Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop launches the latest ad in his bid for the Democratic nomination for governor, promising to “open up the books in Trenton so you can see who’s paying off the politicians,” and to give New Jerseyans “a fair shot.”
In “Trenton Bridge,” Fulop speaks directly to the camera – he has narrated most of his own ads – and promises to increase New Jersey’s minimum wage to $18, accompanied by tax credits for small businesses to foot the bill.
Script: “(Fulop) This bridge should say ‘we make, state government takes.’ I’m Steve Fulop, and I’ll open up the books in Trenton so you can see who’s paying off the politicians. I’ll fight Donald Trump’s Medicaid cuts by using the state’s surplus, and I’ll raise the minimum wage to $18 an hour and give small businesses tax credits to pay for it. You should have a fair shot, no matter your gender, where you live, or the color of your skin. I’ll be a governor on nobody’s side but yours.”…
