SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Highlands Community Charter and Technical Schools (HCCTS), the subject of ABC10’s two-year investigation “The Wild West of Education,” will be drastically downsizing – cutting more than 87% of its workforce.
According to board records, HCCTS will go from roughly 715 full and part-time employees to just 94. The layoffs impact teachers, administrators, information technology, marketing, teacher’s assistants/para-educators and other support staff. The layoffs will go into effect June 30, 2025, records show.
