Gunman convicted of murdering and paralyzing men in front of kids at NJ shop

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 29-year-old man was convicted of murdering one man and paralyzing another in front of kids at a New Jersey shop in 2022, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Joseph Ocasio, 29, was found guilty of murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault. He was also convicted of weapons charges and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to officials, on April 10, 2022, Ocasio entered Nitty Sons Variety Store in Bloomfield and fatally shot 23-year-old Christian Perez. Ocasio also shot 31-year-old Kwame Kemp in the back leaving him partially paralyzed…
