OCWA launches biggest upgrade ever to double water supply for Micron-spurred growth. Who will pay?: The Onondaga County Water Authority has embarked on the biggest expansion of the regional water system since it was first built in the 1960s, which could more than double the amount of water the authority draws from Lake Ontario. OCWA also has plans to build a second, 26-mile pipeline from the lake to Clay and is considering a third. However, it’s still not clear who’s paying for the system expansion and what the final price tag will be.
“Hazing on steroids”: At least 11 members of high school sports team face charges: At least 11 members of the Westhill boys lacrosse team will face criminal charges for a hazing incident where a player was kidnapped, tied up and thrown into the trunk of a car, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick. “This is not hazing,” the DA said. “This is criminal activity. This is hazing on steroids.” Fitzpatrick gave those involved an ultimatum: Turn yourselves in within 48 hours or potentially face felony kidnapping charges.
