NY weather: Thunderstorms with penny-sized hail and damaging winds in New York Tuesday, gusts to hit 60 mph

On Tuesday at 7:11 p.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 8 p.m. for Chenango, Cortland and Madison counties.

The storms are packing penny-sized hail (0.75 inches) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

“At 7:11 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near De Ruyter to near Taylor to Solon, moving east at 60 mph,” according to the weather service. “Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.”…
