Hundreds of firefighters joined loved ones Tuesday for the funeral service for Chicago Fire Captain David Meyer, who was killed last week during a collapse at a garage fire.
The almost 30-year veteran of the fire service and father of four was remembered during a service at St. John Brebeuf Church in Niles. As noted in a report from the Chicago Tribune, indicative of the captain’s character were his actions in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks, when he packed up his gear and drove to Ground Zero to help amid the destruction at Ground Zero.
