WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 35-year-old Wichita man was charged Wednesday in the death of 21-year-old Martevion Davis at a motel.
The shooting happened on Friday in the 800 block of S. Broadway.
James E. Owens was charged with first-degree murder in Sedgwick County District Court.
Police said Davis suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arms. Investigators believe gambling was taking place in the motel parking lot before a disturbance led to the shooting. Owens turned himself in to the authorities on Saturday. Police believe both men knew each other.
