Amsterdam, NY — A joint investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, the Department of Social Services, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has led to the arrest of 24-year-old Maria Araujo on April 29, 2025.
Araujo faces one count of welfare fraud in the third degree, a class D felony, and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony.
