Man charged in deadly bar shooting faces multiple felony counts

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) — A man appeared in front of a grand jury and was formally charged with offenses relating to a deadly shooting at a local bar.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff, Rob Streck, Talbert Grooms is facing the following charges:

  • Two counts of Murder (Proximate Result) – Unclassified Felony
  • One count of Felonious Assault (Deadly Weapon) – second-degree felony
  • One count of Felonious Assault (Serious Physical Harm) – second-degree felony
  • One count of Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle (Loaded and No License) – fourth-degree felony
  • One count of Having Weapons While Under Disability (Prior Offense of Violence) – third-degree felony
  • One count of Having Weapons While Under Disability (Prior Drug Conviction) – third-degree felony

Sheriff Rob Streck said on Nov. 19, 2024, at approximately 1:04 a.m., deputies responded to the 4900 block of Old Barn Road, where there were reports of a shooting at the Palms Lounge.

According to the Sheriff, when deputies arrived, they found a dead man on the back patio with gunshot wounds…
