Right in the heart of downtown Erie is the historic Customs house, or better known as the Erie Art Museum.
The iconic building can be identified by its six pillars and marble steps and is known as a popular spot for photos.
Erie County Community College awarded $1 million grant
Customs house will be going through a multi-phase historic preservation project. Phase one will repair the stairs and exterior of the building and cost about $400,000.
“This first phase is really to help the water mitigate the water infiltration. So that means along the steps there have been water damage, the steps, and so this really repairs that and also along the roof line,” said Laura Domencic, executive director of the Erie Art Museum…
