AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — As the city of Amarillo see’s, a sizeable growth rate in population annually along with parts of the Texas Panhandle region gaining in population so too will the need for mental health services.
At the site of Panhandle State Hospital its undergoing dirt work with construction scheduled to begin in the weeks ahead. Oceans Behavioral Hospital in Amarillo has recently started two outpatient programs one featuring five hours of treatment a day the other three hours of treatment a day.
“So, the Texas Panhandle is vastly underserved as far as mental health resources, so this partial hospitalization program fills a gap in the needs of the community,” said Jim Womack, director of business development for Oceans Behavioral Hospital. “We’re trying to address their needs before they need in-patient treatment.”…
